Step into the world of Purrfectly Handmade, and you’ll find Rachel — a maker whose work is woven from warmth, memory, and the quiet companionship of the cats who inspired it all.
Her journey began in the spring of 2010, following a winter spent curled up on the sofa beneath a duvet, surrounded by her beloved kitties. With a lifelong love of sewing and knitting, first taught by her mum, Rachel set out to create something both practical and beautiful — a blanket that could offer comfort while also becoming part of the home.
From there, her focus naturally turned to her cats. Each design became an exploration, shaped by the way they curled, stretched, and settled into sleep. Fabrics, sizes, and styles were carefully considered, with comfort and practicality at the heart of every piece — especially the all-important ability to withstand real life (and the occasional wash).
As her ideas grew, so did her confidence. With encouragement and support from her husband Phill, who helped bring her early branding to life, All Things Blankets & More was born and shared with the world. At its heart was a simple idea: to create pieces that felt as good to use as they did to make.
Over time, Rachel’s journey has been shaped not only by creativity, but by the lives of the cats who walked beside her. Angel, her first product tester, remained at the heart of her work until his passing in 2012. Later came Tyri and Cersei, gentle Maine Coons who brought their own presence and personality into her creative process. Following Tyri’s sudden passing in 2016, Rachel stepped back, taking time to find her footing again before returning to her craft with renewed purpose.
That same year marked another turning point. Choosing to pursue her work full time, Rachel joined the Professional Crafters Guild and began to reflect on how her business had grown. By January 2017, that evolution found its name — Purrfectly Handmade — a reimagining that better captured the heart of what she created and the world it belonged to.
Today, with Cersei still close by and new additions Azzie and Coby lending their “helpful” supervision, Rachel continues to create pieces that are rooted in comfort, care, and lived experience. Each item carries with it a sense of home — something soft, something warm, and something made with the understanding that the smallest comforts often mean the most.
